What It Means

What having an ETM actually means for your business

When I'm your nominated Transport Manager, I am legally responsible for ensuring your operation meets DVSA standards. That's not a light responsibility, and I don't treat it as one.

📊

Ongoing Compliance Oversight

Regular review of your drivers' hours and tachograph records, vehicle inspection schedules, MOT and PMI records, driver licence status and CPC expiry dates.

🏛️

DVSA Liaison

If DVSA make contact, whether a roadside check, a targeted investigation, or a routine correspondence, I handle it professionally on your behalf.

🚨

Incident Response

When something goes wrong (and in transport, things do go wrong), you need someone who knows the process and can respond correctly. I'm available when it matters.

📜

Operator Licence Compliance

Your undertakings to the Traffic Commissioner are serious legal obligations. I make sure you're meeting them, so your licence stays clean.

🔔

Proactive Alerts

I'll flag issues before they become problems, a driver's licence due for renewal, an inspection overdue, a record that doesn't add up.

Is This Right For You?

An external TM arrangement may be ideal if you:

  • Hold a restricted or standard operator licence of any fleet size
  • Don't have a qualified CPC holder in-house
  • Have been operating without professional TM oversight
  • Have had contact from DVSA and want to regularise your position
  • Are applying for an operator licence for the first time
  • Have lost your previous TM arrangement due to the abolition of Acquired Rights
  • Have a director or employee studying for their CPC and need interim TM cover while they qualify

Available to restricted and standard licence operators of all sizes.

Important: Acquired Rights abolished May 2025

If your current TM arrangement relied on acquired rights, it is no longer legally valid. Many operators don't yet know this. Now is the time to regularise your position.

DVSA digital enforcement is live (March 2026)

Automated risk scoring is now cross-referencing tachograph data, MOT records, and driver licence status. Operators without proper TM oversight are increasingly visible to DVSA.

Interim Transport Manager, While Your Team Qualifies

There are many situations where an operator finds themselves without a qualified, nominated Transport Manager. Your TM may have resigned, retired, or moved on unexpectedly. You may have a new TM appointed but not yet in post. You may have someone studying for their CPC who is not yet qualified. Whatever the reason, your operator licence still needs a qualified, nominated TM, and that gap needs to be filled immediately.

That is exactly what I do. I step in as your interim nominated TM, keep your operation compliant and your licence protected, and hand over cleanly when your permanent arrangement is in place.

  • Your TM has resigned or retired suddenly
  • Your new TM is appointed but not yet in post
  • Your nominated TM is on long-term sick or extended leave
  • A director or employee is studying for their CPC and not yet qualified
  • Your previous arrangement has broken down and needs regularising
  • You are acquiring a business and need immediate TM cover

A real example

"A print and logistics company needed interim TM cover while their director studied for and sat their CPC qualification. I stepped in as nominated ETM, kept the operation compliant throughout, and handed over a clean, documented compliance record the moment they passed. Their operator licence was never at risk."
